Dewa (god) Wisnu on his mount, the king of all avian beings, Garuda.
Wisnu, according to Hinduism, is the sustainer of the world of humans, often out of kilter and will continue
to be out of kilter. Thus, he vaulted nine times onto Garuda and came in the form of an incarnation to earth,
in order to free us from evil powers. This statue originated from the highlands of Bali (1960). |
