The philosophy of Buddhism
Buddhism is named after the first person known
to discover the nature of existence, Prince
Gautama Siddharta Shakyamuni, who was born
in North India 2500 years ago according to the
western calendar.
Buddhism is not a religion, which relies on Holy
Scriptures or the authority of ordained priests,
but a faith based on the teachings of Buddha.
The teachings come from Siddharta’s experience
as he tried, and eventually, achieved self-liberation.
This teaching was verified and recorded by his
followers through practice and represents the
experience available to all who follow the teaching.
